A crew of officers at an armored transport security firm risk their lives when they embark on the ultimate heist against their own company. Armed with a seemingly fool-proof plan, the men plan on making off with a fortune with harm to none. But when an unexpected witness interferes, the plan quickly unravels and all bets are off.
Armored is a middling heist-thriller with a straightforward, largely predictable premise. The plot offers few surprises beyond its setup — a contained armored-car heist gone wrong — and follows genre conventions closely without meaningful subversion. The ensemble cast (Matt Dillon, Laurence Fishburne, Jean Reno) elevates the material somewhat with competent performances, but even they can't transcend the formulaic script. Visually, the film is functional and serviceable but unremarkable, offering nothing distinctive cinematographically. As a heist film, it adds little to the subgenre — the conflict is familiar and the tension is only moderate. The ending resolves predictably without a memorable payoff, leaving little lasting impression.
