A counter-terrorism expert takes a job protecting a young heiress. After an attempted kidnapping puts both of their lives in danger, they must flee.
Close is a competent but formulaic action thriller that follows a well-worn bodyguard-protects-heiress template. Noomi Rapace brings credibility to the lead role and Sophie Nélisse holds her own, elevating the acting above the material. The Moroccan setting provides some visual interest and the action sequences are shot with reasonable professionalism, but the cinematography rarely transcends genre conventions. The plot offers few surprises, hitting expected beats of betrayal, pursuit, and bonding between protector and charge. The ending resolves predictably without memorable impact. There is little here that distinguishes it from dozens of similar entries in the genre.
