A warrior-assassin is forced to hide in a small town in the American Badlands after refusing a mission.
The Warrior's Way is a visually arresting East-meets-West fantasy action hybrid that leans heavily on its striking stylized cinematography — heavily composited, hyper-saturated visuals that give it a distinct graphic-novel aesthetic. However, the plot is thin and predictable, following a well-worn reluctant hero arc with little depth or surprise. Acting is serviceable at best, with Jang Dong-gun stoic to a fault and the supporting cast (Geoffrey Rush, Kate Bosworth) working hard but hampered by underdeveloped characters. The mashup of samurai and Western genres gives it some novelty, though it doesn't fully deliver on its unique premise. The ending devolves into a CGI-heavy climax that feels rushed and unsatisfying.
