The Quartile Take

Z-O-M-B-I-E-S is a Disney Channel TV movie musical that blends high school romance tropes with a zombie-integration allegory. Its plot is formulaic and predictable, hitting all the expected beats of forbidden romance and acceptance narratives. Acting is serviceable for the TV movie format but not exceptional. Cinematography is standard Disney Channel production quality — colorful and energetic but unremarkable. Novelty gets a modest boost for its quirky mashup of zombie lore, cheerleading, and musical numbers as social commentary, giving it a distinctive enough voice within the Disney Channel space even if the underlying story is derivative. The ending wraps up tidily and without surprise, as expected for its target demographic.
