Fantasia 2000 is a visually stunning anthology that showcases Disney animation at a high technical level, particularly in segments like the Firebird Suite and the whale sequence. However, as a sequel it largely recycles the concept of the original 1940 masterpiece without adding meaningful innovation to the format. The live-action host segments are awkward and add little value. The musical pairings vary in effectiveness, and the lack of a unified narrative arc keeps the film from transcending its episodic structure. Cinematography and visual artistry are genuinely exceptional, but novelty and storytelling depth are limited by its derivative anthology format.
