Dora, a girl who has spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents, now must navigate her most dangerous adventure yet: high school. The Quartile Take

Dora and the Lost City of Gold is a charming if formulaic live-action adaptation of the beloved cartoon. The plot is predictable and leans heavily on tropes — the fish-out-of-water high school setup, the Indiana Jones-style jungle adventure, and the predictable villain reveal all feel well-worn. Acting is surprisingly solid, with Isabela Merced bringing genuine energy and comedic timing to Dora, elevating what could have been an awkward role. Cinematography is competent and colorful, capturing the Peruvian jungle with some visual flair, though nothing particularly standout. Novelty earns a slight bump for the meta-humor that winks at the source material — the self-aware jokes about the cartoon's quirks are clever touches that give it a distinct flavor. The ending, however, wraps up too neatly and rushes through its resolution, failing to deliver meaningful emotional payoff.
