Take Your Pills (2018)

Quartile rating: 6.5/10 · 1 rating

In a hypercompetitive world, drugs like Adderall offer students, athletes, coders and others a way to do more -- faster and better. But at what cost?

The Quartile Take

Take Your Pills is a competent Netflix documentary examining stimulant drug use in high-pressure environments. It covers familiar ground in the 'drugs in modern society' documentary space, offering solid talking-head interviews and decent visual storytelling but little that distinguishes it from similar explorations of pharmaceutical culture. The acting category is not applicable in the traditional sense, and the interviewees are engaging but unremarkable. The cinematography is functional with some stylistic flourishes but nothing exceptional. The ending feels inconclusive, raising questions without providing meaningful resolution or a strong thesis, which is a common pitfall for issue-driven documentaries of this type.
