Rattled by sudden unemployment, a Manhattan couple surveys alternative living options, ultimately deciding to experiment with living on a rural commune where free love rules.
Wanderlust is a middling comedy with a decent cast (Paul Rudd, Jennifer Aniston) who do their best with uneven material. The commune/hippie premise offers some comedic novelty and a few genuinely funny moments, but the plot is formulaic — fish-out-of-water setup with predictable relationship tension and resolution. Cinematography is functional and unremarkable. The ending wraps up too neatly and without much comedic payoff. The cast elevates it slightly above its script.
