The teenagers of Disney's most infamous villains return to the Isle of the Lost to recruit a new batch of villainous offspring to join them at Auradon Prep.
Descendants 3 follows a familiar formula for the franchise, offering little narrative surprise as the villain kids return to recruit new members from the Isle. The plot is predictable and recycled from the prior installments, earning a below-average score. The young cast delivers energetic, committed performances especially during the musical numbers, landing above average for acting. Cinematography is standard Disney Channel TV movie fare with competent but unremarkable visuals. Novelty is low given it is a by-the-numbers sequel treading well-worn ground from the first two films. The ending receives a slight lift for providing an emotionally resonant conclusion to the trilogy, even if it plays it safe.
