Jurassic World Dominion (2022)

Quartile rating: 6/10 · 1 rating

Four years after Isla Nublar was destroyed, dinosaurs now live—and hunt—alongside humans all over the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history's most fearsome creatures.

The Quartile Take

Jurassic World Dominion attempts to merge the legacy cast with the newer trilogy characters but fumbles the execution badly. The plot is overstuffed with a locust subplot that sidelines the dinosaur-human coexistence premise, resulting in a muddled and unsatisfying narrative. Acting is functional but the script gives even capable veterans like Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum little to work with. Cinematography is competent blockbuster fare with some decent set pieces but nothing visually distinctive. Novelty is low — the film recycles franchise tropes and relies heavily on nostalgia rather than offering fresh ideas, and the locust angle feels grafted on rather than inspired. The ending resolves conflicts too neatly and without meaningful consequence, failing to deliver on the thematic promise of humans coexisting with dinosaurs.
