When top hitman Joe Flood is diagnosed with a terminal illness, he decides to take matters into his own hands – by taking a hit out on himself. But when the very hitmen he hired also target his ex-girlfriend, he must fend off an army of assassin colleagues and win back the love of his life before it's too late.
The Killer's Game is a breezy action-comedy with a mildly clever premise — a hitman hiring assassins to kill himself — but the execution is largely formulaic. The plot leans heavily on genre clichés: the lovable rogue, the imperiled ex-girlfriend, the army of quirky killers. Dave Bautista brings charisma to the lead and elevates the material somewhat, but the supporting performances are uneven. Cinematography is workmanlike action-comedy fare with no distinctive visual identity. The concept has a spark of originality (drawn from a novel) but the film doesn't push it far enough to feel truly distinctive. The ending resolves predictably, hitting expected romantic and action beats without surprise. Overall a passable but unremarkable genre entry.
