Red Notice (2021)

Quartile rating: 5/10 · 2 ratings

An Interpol-issued Red Notice is a global alert to hunt and capture the world's most wanted. But when a daring heist brings together the FBI's top profiler and two rival criminals, there's no telling what will happen.

The Quartile Take

Red Notice is a glossy, formulaic action-comedy that leans heavily on its star power (Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot) but offers little originality. The plot is a by-the-numbers heist romp with predictable twists and thin character development. Reynolds delivers his usual quippy charm and Johnson is likable, but the performances are nothing exceptional. The cinematography is competent but sterile, typical of big-budget Netflix productions shot on controlled sets and various international locations without much visual flair. The ending attempts a surprise twist that many viewers will see coming, and it sets up a sequel in a way that feels more commercial than satisfying. Overall, an entertaining but entirely forgettable crowd-pleaser.
