The love story between a pampered Cocker Spaniel named Lady and a streetwise mongrel named Tramp. Lady finds herself out on the street after her owners have a baby and is saved from a pack by Tramp, who tries to show her to live her life footloose and collar-free.
The 2019 live-action remake of Lady and the Tramp is a competent and warm retelling of the classic story, with charming performances from its cast and appealing visuals. The real dogs and CGI blend is handled reasonably well, giving the film a distinct look. However, it adds little new to the beloved 1955 original — the plot follows the same familiar beats without meaningful reinvention, making it feel largely derivative. The ending is satisfying in a conventional, expected way, and the acting from human and animal performers alike is serviceable. Cinematography is pleasant but unremarkable. Overall a decent family film that will appeal to fans of the original but offers little fresh for those already familiar with the story.
