An agoraphobic woman living alone in New York begins spying on her new neighbors only to witness a disturbing act of violence.
The Woman in the Window is a fairly derivative psychological thriller that borrows heavily from Hitchcock's Rear Window without adding much of its own identity. The plot is convoluted and riddled with implausibilities, leaning on tired unreliable-narrator twists that feel telegraphed rather than earned. The acting is serviceable thanks to a strong cast including Amy Adams, who gives a committed performance despite the weak material. Cinematography is competent with some stylish flourishes but nothing particularly memorable. The ending underwhelms, relying on a rushed reveal and action-heavy climax that feels tonally mismatched with the slow-burn setup. Novelty is low given how closely it echoes its Hitchcock inspiration and other genre predecessors without a distinctive voice or fresh angle.
