A group of top female agents from American, British, Chinese, Colombian, and German government agencies are drawn together to try and stop an organization from acquiring a deadly weapon to send the world into chaos.
The 355 is a by-the-numbers spy ensemble thriller that fails to distinguish itself despite its strong female cast. The plot recycled familiar MacGuffin-chasing espionage tropes without meaningful subversion, the action sequences were competently but unremarkably shot, and the premise of a multinational female spy team—while appealing on paper—was executed in a formulaic way that wasted its talented cast including Jessica Chastain, Penélope Cruz, and Lupita Nyong'o. The ending resolves predictably with little emotional payoff. Across all categories the film lands solidly below average, reflecting its middling critical and audience reception.
