A Dog's Journey is a sequel to A Dog's Purpose, following the same reincarnation-of-a-loyal-dog formula. The plot hits familiar emotional beats—loss, redemption, companionship—competently but without surprise. Acting is serviceable across the board with solid but unremarkable performances. Cinematography is functional and pleasant but never distinctive. Novelty is low as it recycles its predecessor's central conceit with little fresh invention. The ending delivers the expected tearful payoff that fans of the genre will appreciate, landing with modest emotional resonance.
