The Intruder (2019)

Quartile rating: 6/10 · 1 rating

A psychological thriller about a young married couple who buys a beautiful Napa Valley house on several acres of land only to find that the man they bought it from refuses to let go of the property.

The Quartile Take

The Intruder follows a well-worn home-invasion thriller template with few surprises: a creepy seller who won't leave, an oblivious spouse, and escalating confrontations that build to a predictable violent climax. Dennis Quaid commits fully to his unhinged antagonist role, giving the film more energy than it deserves, and Meagan Good and Michael Ealy are serviceable leads. The Napa Valley setting provides pleasant visuals but is not cinematographically distinguished. The plot is riddled with logic gaps and contrived character decisions that strain credibility, and the ending resolves with genre-standard finality rather than anything memorable. Overall a modestly entertaining but forgettable genre exercise.
