The Quartile Take

The Night Clerk features an intriguing premise centered on an autistic protagonist navigating a murder investigation, and Tye Sheridan's committed performance carries much of the film's emotional weight. However, the plot mechanics are fairly predictable once the mystery is established, following a well-worn thriller template that doesn't fully capitalize on its unique setup. Cinematography is competent and serviceable without being particularly inventive. The autistic character perspective gives the film some novelty, though it doesn't fully explore that lens in a truly distinctive way. The ending feels rushed and somewhat unsatisfying, failing to deliver the tension the premise promised.
