Two female friends with very different ideals decide to start a beauty company together. One is more practical, while the other wants to earn her fortune and live a lavish lifestyle.
Like a Boss is a formulaic buddy comedy that follows predictable beats: friendship tested by outside forces, falling out, reconciliation. The premise of two women starting a cosmetics business against a scheming investor has minimal originality. The cast (Tiffany Haddish, Rose Byrne, Salma Hayek) brings energy and some laughs but is underserved by the weak script. Cinematography is serviceable at best, with no distinctive visual choices. The ending resolves everything neatly and unsurprisingly. Overall a paint-by-numbers comedy that wastes its talented leads.
