During a mysterious thunderstorm, Vera, a young mother, manages to save a life in danger, but her good deed causes a disturbing chain of unexpected consequences.
Mirage (also known as Durante la tormenta) is a Spanish sci-fi thriller with a genuinely inventive high-concept premise — a time-travel paradox story built around a thunderstorm that connects two timelines 25 years apart. The plot is intricately constructed and consistently surprising, earning a strong mark. The novelty is high because the film executes its genre-bending concept — mixing domestic drama with mystery thriller and time-loop mechanics — in a distinctive, emotionally grounded way that sets it apart from typical genre fare. Acting is solid, particularly from Adriana Ugarte, though not exceptional. Cinematography is competent and atmospheric but not especially distinctive. The ending, while satisfying and emotionally resonant, slightly strains credibility under scrutiny and loses some of the narrative tightness built up earlier.
