A nurse is forced to spring a wounded murder suspect from the hospital when the man’s brother kidnaps his pregnant wife and wants to make a trade.
This Netflix remake of the 2010 French thriller offers little that distinguishes it from its source material or the broader action-thriller genre. The premise is functional but recycled almost beat-for-beat, and the execution feels generic and rushed. Acting is serviceable from Anthony Mackie and Frank Grillo but neither is given much to work with. Cinematography is flat and unremarkable, typical of mid-tier streaming action fare. The ending resolves predictably with few surprises. As a straightforward remake with minimal creative reinterpretation, Novelty scores very low.
