Father of the Year is a Netflix comedy with a thin, gimmicky premise that never transcends its one-joke concept. The plot is formulaic and predictable, the acting is broad and uneven, cinematography is flat and functional, it offers little that is distinctive or original, and the ending wraps up without any real payoff. A thoroughly average-to-below-average entry across the board.
