The Quartile Take

Run is a competent, tightly wound thriller built around Munchausen syndrome by proxy. Sarah Paulson delivers a chilling performance and Kiera Allen is compelling as the wheelchair-bound protagonist, but the film is fairly conventional in its genre mechanics. The cinematography is functional but unremarkable. The concept of a disabled protagonist actively working to escape her captor adds some freshness, but the premise itself (manipulative caregiver thriller) is familiar territory. The ending feels rushed and somewhat anticlimactic, undercutting the tension built throughout.
