Honest Thief is a competent but formulaic Liam Neeson action-thriller that follows a well-worn template. The plot — reformed criminal caught up in corrupt law enforcement — offers little surprise, hitting predictable beats throughout. Neeson delivers his reliable gruff-but-honorable everyman performance, and Kate Walsh adds warmth as the love interest, but the acting rarely transcends the material. Cinematography is workmanlike and TV-movie-adjacent, with nothing visually memorable. The film brings almost no novelty to the genre, recycling tropes from countless similar Neeson vehicles. The ending resolves things tidily but without much tension or satisfaction, feeling rushed and convenient. A passable rental but unremarkable in nearly every dimension.
