Quartile rating: 7.5/10 · 1 rating
The comedic modern-day quintet takes on their 2003 counterparts when villains from each of their worlds join forces to pit the two Titan teams against each other. They'll need to set aside their differences and work together to combat Trigon, Hexagon, Santa Claus (that's right, Santa!) and time itself in order to save the multiverse.
Teen Titans Go! vs. Teen Titans is a fan-pleasing crossover that cleverly plays the comedic, self-aware TTG style against the more serious 2003 series, generating genuine laughs and some heartfelt moments for longtime fans. The multiverse plot is functional but fairly standard for crossover fare, hitting expected beats without much surprise. The animation quality is consistent with the TV series rather than elevated for a theatrical-style release, keeping cinematography modest. Acting/voice work is solid and enthusiastic from both casts. Novelty earns a modest bump for the meta-textual concept of pitting two iterations of the same characters against each other across tonal registers, though the multiverse conceit itself is well-worn. The ending wraps things up satisfactorily without leaving a strong impression.
