Shang-Chi must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization.
Shang-Chi brings a refreshing East Asian lead and culturally rich aesthetic to the MCU, with vibrant martial arts choreography and genuine family drama at its core. The first two acts balance personal stakes with kinetic action effectively. However, the third act collapses into a generic CGI-heavy spectacle — giant monsters clashing in a magical realm — that undercuts the grounded, character-driven strengths of the earlier story. Acting is solid across the board, with Tony Leung elevating every scene he's in, though some supporting characters remain underdeveloped. Cinematography is competent and occasionally striking in the Ta Lo sequences, but largely follows MCU house style. As a superhero origin film it is fresher than most MCU entries thanks to its wuxia influences and cultural specificity, though the overall formula remains familiar.
