My Spy is a formulaic action-comedy that treads very familiar ground—the tough guy softened by a cute kid is a well-worn Hollywood template. Dave Bautista's natural charm and comedic timing elevate what is otherwise a predictable buddy dynamic, but the plot offers no surprises, the cinematography is serviceable at best, and the ending resolves exactly as expected. Novelty is low given how closely it follows established genre conventions.
