When a Chinese rebel murders Chon's estranged father and escapes to England, Chon and Roy make their way to London with revenge on their minds.
Shanghai Knights is a breezy but formulaic follow-up to Shanghai Noon, swapping the Wild West for Victorian London without adding much conceptual freshness. The plot is a thin revenge-and-conspiracy yarn held together by Chan-Wilson chemistry rather than narrative ingenuity. Jackie Chan's physical comedy and stunt work remain impressive and elevate the action sequences, while Owen Wilson delivers his trademark laid-back charm. Cinematography is competent and colorful but unremarkable. The film largely repeats the fish-out-of-water buddy formula of the first film with diminishing returns, making it feel derivative rather than distinctive. The ending wraps up predictably with little emotional payoff beyond the genre's expected beats.
