Three families end up in the same rented house. Throughout the summer, they become friends and rediscover how to enjoy life.
I Hate Summer is a warmhearted Italian comedy about three families accidentally sharing a holiday rental. The plot is pleasant but formulaic, leaning on familiar fish-out-of-water and ensemble family dynamics without much surprise. Acting is serviceable and charming in the Italian comedy tradition but unremarkable. Cinematography is functional and sun-drenched in a generic summer-vacation way, nothing distinctive. Novelty is low — the premise of mismatched strangers bonding over a shared space is well-worn territory. The ending wraps things up satisfyingly in a conventional feel-good manner.
