Tragedy strikes the Batman's life again when Robin Jason Todd tracks down his birth mother only to run afoul of the Joker. An adaptation of the 1988 comic book storyline of the same name.
The interactive branching-narrative format is genuinely distinctive for an animated DC feature, allowing viewers to choose Jason Todd's fate across multiple endings — a novel execution that sets it apart from standard adaptations. The animation is competent but not exceptional, and the acting hits familiar superhero-animation notes. The plot faithfully adapts the iconic 1988 storyline but doesn't transcend it. The multiple endings are intriguing conceptually though uneven in execution.
