Superman: Man of Tomorrow (2020)

Quartile rating: 7/10 · 1 rating

It’s the dawn of a new age of heroes, and Metropolis has just met its first. But as Daily Planet intern Clark Kent – working alongside reporter Lois Lane – secretly wields his alien powers of flight, super-strength and x-ray vision in the battle for good, there’s even greater trouble on the horizon.

The Quartile Take

Superman: Man of Tomorrow is a serviceable animated origin retelling that hits familiar beats without much reinvention. The plot follows Clark Kent's early days in Metropolis with competent but predictable story beats, introducing Lobo and Parasite as villains in ways that feel fresher than a typical Superman story but still formulaic overall. Voice acting is solid and professional without being particularly memorable. The animation style is clean but unremarkable for DC's animated output, lacking the visual ambition of earlier DC animated films. Novelty is low as it treads well-worn Superman origin territory despite some character choices, and the ending resolves tidily without much surprise or resonance.
