Tanjiro Kamado, joined with Inosuke Hashibira, a boy raised by boars who wears a boar's head, and Zenitsu Agatsuma, a scared boy who reveals his true power when he sleeps, boards the Infinity Train on a new mission with the Fire Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku, to defeat a demon who has been tormenting the people and killing the demon slayers who oppose it!
Mugen Train is a direct continuation of the Demon Slayer anime series, carrying forward its established characters and shounen battle framework without significantly reinventing them — so Novelty lands at an average 3. The plot is straightforward and largely a vehicle for escalating combat, serviceable but not complex. Voice acting (Japanese dub especially) is strong and emotionally resonant, though not extraordinary. Where the film genuinely excels is in its cinematography and visual craft: Ufotable's animation is breathtaking, with fluid, intricately choreographed action sequences and stunning use of color and particle effects that rank among anime's finest. The ending earns a 4 — Rengoku's death lands as a genuinely tragic, earned emotional gut-punch that resonates long after the credits, elevating the entire film.
