On a hiking trip to rekindle their marriage, a couple find themselves fleeing for their lives in the unforgiving wilderness from an unknown shooter.
Red Dot is a competent Swedish survival thriller with a solid central premise and some effective tension-building in its wilderness chase sequences. The acting is serviceable, with the two leads carrying most of the film credibly. The cinematography captures the stark, cold Scandinavian landscape well enough to create atmosphere. However, the film suffers from a predictable structure and a twist ending that, while attempting to subvert sympathy, feels telegraphed and relies on a somewhat contrived reveal that undercuts emotional investment. The survival-thriller-in-the-wilderness subgenre is well-worn, and Red Dot does little to distinguish itself beyond its Swedish setting and snowy backdrop. The ending in particular feels rushed and tonally inconsistent with the dread built up earlier.
