When Ana, an influencer, crashes her car while talking on the phone, she's shipped to her grumpy grandfather's farm -- and forced into a digital detox.
Airplane Mode is a Brazilian Netflix comedy with a familiar fish-out-of-water premise — social media influencer forced into rural digital detox — that hits predictable beats without much surprise. The plot is formulaic, the acting passable but unremarkable, cinematography is functional TV-movie level, and the concept, while timely, has been explored in similar fashion elsewhere. The ending wraps up neatly but without emotional resonance. A solidly average, inoffensive watch that doesn't distinguish itself in any particular dimension.
