The story of Tim Ballard, a former US government agent, who quits his job in order to devote his life to rescuing children from global sex traffickers.
Sound of Freedom tackles the harrowing subject of child sex trafficking with earnest conviction. The plot is serviceable and emotionally driven but follows a fairly linear rescue-mission structure without much narrative complexity. Jim Caviezel delivers a committed performance, though supporting roles are uneven. Cinematography is functional and workmanlike, lacking distinctive visual style. The subject matter and true-story basis lend it some novelty, though the thriller mechanics are conventional. The ending feels abrupt and somewhat unsatisfying dramatically, relying heavily on title cards rather than earned cinematic resolution.
