Back from the brink of death, highly skilled commando Tyler Rake takes on another dangerous mission: saving the imprisoned family of a ruthless gangster.

The Quartile Take

Extraction 2 doubles down on what made the first film a Netflix action sensation. The plot is serviceable but thin — a rescue-the-family setup that exists primarily as a framework for action sequences rather than genuine dramatic tension. Acting is competent with Hemsworth carrying the film on charisma and physicality, though character development remains shallow. The real showpiece is the cinematography and action choreography: the extended one-take prison breakout sequence is a genuinely stunning technical achievement, rivaling anything in the genre for sustained kinetic craft. Novelty is low — it's a sequel that largely replicates the formula of its predecessor with a bigger budget, offering little conceptually new beyond escalation. The ending is adequately resolved with some emotional beats that work better than the rest of the script deserves.
