Unable to face his new reality in a wheelchair, Ángel develops a deadly obsession with the woman who left him and unleashes a sinister revenge plot.
The Paramedic is a competent Spanish thriller anchored by Mario Casas's committed performance as the increasingly unhinged Ángel. The plot follows a fairly familiar obsession-and-revenge trajectory, elevated somewhat by the wheelchair-bound protagonist angle but not enough to feel truly distinctive. Casas carries much of the film's tension effectively, though the supporting cast is more functional than impressive. Cinematography is serviceable but unremarkable, with little visual flair to distinguish it from mid-tier streaming thrillers. The premise recycles well-worn stalker/captivity tropes without adding significant novelty. The ending delivers adequate payoff within genre expectations without being particularly memorable or surprising.
