Twisters (2024)

Quartile rating: 6.5/10 · 1 rating

As storm season intensifies, the paths of former storm chaser Kate Carter and reckless social-media superstar Tyler Owens collide when terrifying phenomena never seen before are unleashed. The pair and their competing teams find themselves squarely in the paths of multiple storm systems converging over central Oklahoma in the fight of their lives.

The Quartile Take

Twisters is a competent but formulaic disaster-action sequel that follows well-worn genre beats: reluctant expert, charismatic wildcard, escalating storm sequences, and a climactic showdown. The plot offers little surprise and leans heavily on the original's legacy. Glen Powell brings undeniable screen presence and charm, elevating the material above its script, while Daisy Edgar-Jones is solid but underserved. Cinematography delivers serviceable wide-open Oklahoma vistas and kinetic storm sequences, though they rarely transcend typical blockbuster spectacle. Novelty is low — the film recycles the disaster-movie playbook with a social-media influencer twist that feels more gimmick than fresh perspective. The ending resolves predictably with minimal emotional payoff beyond the expected heroics.
