Bullet Train (2022)

Quartile rating: 9/10 · 4 ratings

Unlucky assassin Ladybug is determined to do his job peacefully after one too many gigs gone off the rails. Fate, however, may have other plans, as Ladybug's latest mission puts him on a collision course with lethal adversaries from around the globe—all with connected, yet conflicting, objectives—on the world's fastest train.

The Quartile Take

Bullet Train is a slick, fast-paced action-comedy with interlocking stories clearly inspired by Guy Ritchie and Tarantino — competently executed but not particularly distinctive. The ensemble cast (Pitt, Bad Bunny, Brian Tyree Henry, Aaron Taylor-Johnson) deliver entertaining performances, though the material rarely demands depth. Visually it's polished but stylistically generic blockbuster fare. The plot's interconnected-stories-on-a-train conceit is fun but derivative of its source material and similar ensemble thrillers. The ending piles on twists and cameos in a way that feels overcrowded and slightly desperate rather than satisfying, undercutting the film's momentum.
