Quartile rating: 6.5/10 · 1 rating
Sheds light on an alternative approach to farming called “regenerative agriculture” that could balance our climate, replenish our vast water supplies, and feed the world.
Kiss the Ground is a well-intentioned and accessible documentary advocating for regenerative agriculture as a solution to climate change. The narrative structure is clear and engaging for a general audience, covering soil health, carbon sequestration, and holistic land management. Cinematography is solid with appealing nature footage but rarely transcends standard documentary visuals. Novelty is moderate — the subject matter (regenerative ag) was gaining mainstream attention around 2020 and the film helped popularize it, though the advocacy-doc format is familiar. Celebrity narration (Woody Harrelson) and talking-head interviews are competent but unremarkable in the 'acting' sense. The ending is hopeful and reasonably satisfying, landing a motivational call to action typical of environmental docs. Overall a respectable, above-average entry in the eco-documentary space without being exceptional in any single dimension.
