A young man finds out that he holds the key to restoring hope and ensuring survival for the human race, while an alien species called the Drej are bent on mankind's destruction.
Titan A.E. is a visually ambitious hybrid of traditional 2D and early CG animation that produces some genuinely stunning space sequences, earning high marks for cinematography. The voice cast performs solidly but the plot is fairly conventional chosen-one sci-fi fare with underdeveloped characters. The premise of humanity's extinction and a hidden cosmic MacGuffin had potential but the execution is rushed and uneven. The ending delivers spectacle but feels abrupt. Novelty sits in the middle — the visual style was distinctive for its era but the narrative beats are familiar.
