Garfield, the world-famous, Monday-hating, lasagna-loving indoor cat, is about to have a wild outdoor adventure! After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father – scruffy street cat Vic – Garfield and his canine friend Odie are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist.

The Quartile Take

The Garfield Movie (2024) is a competent but unremarkable family animation. The plot is formulaic — a reluctant hero dragged into a heist with a convenient father-son reconciliation arc that hits every expected beat without surprise. The voice cast (Chris Pratt, Samuel L. Jackson) brings some energy and elevates the material slightly above what the script deserves, landing acting at above average. The CGI animation is colorful and polished but not visually distinctive — serviceable modern studio work without memorable cinematographic choices. Novelty is low; the film recycles Garfield's well-worn traits (lasagna, Monday-hating) as surface dressing on a thoroughly generic heist-road-movie structure with no fresh perspective on the character. The ending resolves predictably with father-son bonding and the status quo restored, lacking emotional or narrative payoff. A perfectly watchable but instantly forgettable family film.
