Shotgun Wedding is a formulaic action-comedy that leans heavily on the well-worn 'bickering couple forced to work together under fire' premise. The plot offers few surprises and the hostage-wedding setup, while fun in concept, is executed with predictable beats and conveniences. Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel bring enough charisma to keep things watchable, and the supporting cast including Jennifer Coolidge adds comedic value, lifting the acting slightly above the material. Visually it is competently shot with decent tropical scenery but nothing visually distinctive. The film is quite derivative of similar action-comedies and lacks a singular voice or perspective. The ending resolves everything tidily in a way that feels unearned given the chaos that preceded it.
