6 Days to Air: The Making of South Park (2011)

Quartile rating: 6/10 · 1 rating

Viewers will get a look at Parker and Stone's thought process as they approach a new episode and the 24/7 grind they subject themselves to each time the show is in production. The documentary also includes in-depth interviews with Parker and Stone about their working partnership and reflections on highlights from their careers.

The Quartile Take

A compelling fly-on-the-wall documentary that captures the insane production crunch of South Park's six-day turnaround with genuine energy and humor. Parker and Stone are engaging subjects whose creative chemistry and work ethic make for fascinating viewing. However, the cinematography is functional at best — mostly handheld office footage without much visual artistry — and the ending fizzles without a strong conclusion beyond the episode airing. Novelty is decent given the rare behind-the-scenes access to an iconic show's chaotic process, but the documentary format itself is fairly conventional.
