Afterlife of the Party is a feel-good Netflix fantasy-comedy that follows a well-worn premise — a party girl dies and gets a second chance to make amends. The plot is predictable and derivative of countless 'ghost with unfinished business' stories. The acting, particularly Victoria Justice, is energetic and likable enough to carry the light material above average. Cinematography is standard Netflix production fare — competent but unremarkable. Novelty is low given how formulaic the concept is with no distinctive voice or fresh angle on the genre.
