Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024)

Quartile rating: 7.5/10 · 1 rating

As the world falls, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers into the hands of a great biker horde led by the warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the wasteland, they encounter the citadel presided over by Immortan Joe. The two tyrants wage war for dominance, and Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.

The Quartile Take

Furiosa expands the Mad Max universe with impressive scale and visual invention — Miller's wasteland cinematography and large-scale practical action sequences are genuinely exceptional, carrying on the legacy of Fury Road with distinct flair. The plot, however, is more episodic than propulsive, functioning as a chronicle rather than a tightly driven narrative, which dilutes tension across its lengthy runtime. Taylor-Joy and Hemsworth deliver committed performances, but the film never quite achieves the raw, wordless magnetism of Charlize Theron's Furiosa. The ending feels somewhat anticlimactic — it dutifully connects to Fury Road but lacks emotional catharsis on its own terms, feeling more like a narrative handoff than a satisfying conclusion.
