Warriors of the Wind is the heavily edited and re-dubbed American localization of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, which itself is a landmark of anime and ecological storytelling. The underlying film's plot is visionary and thematically rich — human-nature conflict, post-apocalyptic ecology, and a pacifist heroine are handled with real depth, earning a solid 3 despite the localization cutting key nuance. The dubbed acting in this version is notably weak, a hallmark of 1980s English anime dubbing with flat performances and awkward line readings, warranting a 2. Cinematography reflects Miyazaki's distinctive hand-drawn artistry and sweeping aerial sequences, impressive for 1984 animation.
