Yuta Okkotsu is a nervous high school student who is suffering from a serious problem—his childhood friend Rika has turned into a curse and won't leave him alone. Since Rika is no ordinary curse, his plight is noticed by Satoru Gojo, a teacher at Jujutsu High, a school where fledgling exorcists learn how to combat curses. Gojo convinces Yuta to enroll, but can he learn enough in time to confront the curse that haunts him?
JJK0 is a solid anime film prequel with genuinely exceptional animation and action cinematography — the climactic battle sequences are visually stunning and rank among the best in recent anime cinema. The plot is emotionally engaging but follows a fairly familiar tragic-love-turned-curse structure common to the shounen genre. Acting (voice performances) is strong but not standout. Novelty is limited as it builds on established JJK lore and hits well-worn shounen beats, functioning more as a supplement for fans than a singular cinematic vision. The ending delivers emotional payoff and a satisfying twist but relies on convenient plotting.
