Quartile rating: 8.5/10 · 1 rating

The world's most shagadelic spy continues his fight against Dr. Evil. This time, the diabolical doctor and his clone, Mini-Me, team up with a new foe—'70s kingpin Goldmember. While pursuing the team of villains to stop them from world domination, Austin gets help from his dad and an old girlfriend.

The Quartile Take

Austin Powers in Goldmember is the third entry in the franchise and the most formulaic of the trilogy. The plot recycles the same beats as its predecessors with diminishing returns — time travel, a new gimmicky villain, and world domination schemes that feel increasingly tired. The acting is committed but broad, with Mike Myers doing what he always does across multiple roles, and Beyoncé's debut feeling more like a cameo novelty than a genuine performance. Cinematography is functional comedy fare with nothing visually distinctive. Novelty is the weakest point — by the third film the jokes, the format, the references, and the Austin Powers formula are well-worn; even the celebrity cameo opening feels like a contractual obligation. The ending wraps up with a saccharine family reconciliation that lands awkwardly given the film's irreverent tone. A watchable but clearly diminished installment that coasts almost entirely on franchise goodwill.
