Hapless family man Paul Matthews finds his life turned upside down when millions of strangers suddenly start seeing him in their dreams. But when his nighttime appearances take a nightmarish turn, Paul is forced to navigate his newfound stardom.
Dream Scenario is elevated significantly by Nicolas Cage's committed, nuanced performance as the bewildered Paul Matthews — one of his best in years. The high-concept premise is genuinely distinctive, using shared dreams as a sharp satirical lens on viral fame, cancel culture, and the arbitrary nature of celebrity. The film's first two acts crackle with originality and dark comic energy. However, the third act and ending lose their footing — the satire becomes muddled and the resolution feels anticlimactic and unsatisfying rather than provocative. Cinematography is competent but largely unremarkable, serving the story without distinguishing itself. Novelty is high because the film's voice and thematic ambition are unmistakably singular even when execution falters.
